RUC-CHEF ยท CHEFOPS FAMILY
RUC.
Sorted.
Road user charges on autopilot. We track the distance, top up before you run out, and keep you compliant. You never think about it again.
Ready for 2027, when every Kiwi vehicle moves to RUC.
RUC is a hassle. We make it disappear.
- Run out mid-trip and you get an invoice and a penalty.
- You have to remember to top up, in 1,000 km blocks, before you run dry.
- Multiple vehicles means multiple licences to track.
- It is admin nobody wants, on top of everything else.
If it runs on diesel or plugs in, we've got it.
Tow rigs & transporters
Heavy haul, covered.
Diesel utes & 4WDs
The classic RUC vehicles.
EVs & plug-in hybrids
Yes, EVs pay RUC too.
Tractors & farm vehicles
Off-road work, on-road rules.
Campervans & motorhomes
Big kilometres, simple admin.
Fleets, big or small
One dashboard, every vehicle.
One account, every vehicle, all in one place.
How it works
- 01
Add your vehicle, ute, transporter, tow rig, EV or diesel.
- 02
We watch the distance and buy your RUC automatically.
- 03
Always compliant, never a penalty, every receipt in one place.
No surprises, no markup on the tax.
You pay the road user charges (a fixed government charge), the NZTA admin fee, and a small RUC-Chef service fee for handling it all. Every charge is itemised. We never mark up the tax, you just never have to think about it.
The change is coming
Petrol tax is being replaced by distance-based road user charges. It is the biggest change to how New Zealand funds its roads in 50 years, and it will eventually cover all 3.5 million light vehicles, petrol, diesel, electric and hybrid alike. From around 2027 the system opens to providers like us. RUC-Chef will be ready, so your vehicles stay compliant and your admin stays quiet.
Built on trusted rails.
Powered by RucMonkey, a New Zealand RUC operator approved by NZTA.
From the team behind Track-Chef, the platform trusted to run New Zealand motorsport results.
WHERE IT CAME FROM
Born in the pit lane. Useful in every driveway.
RUC-Chef comes from the team that runs New Zealand motorsport on Track-Chef, where tow rigs, transporters and race-day diesels made RUC admin a weekly headache. We built the fix for ourselves first. Now it is for everyone.
Questions, answered.
Road user charges. A distance-based charge for vehicles that do not pay tax at the pump, like diesels and EVs. You pre-pay for the kilometres you drive.
